If you’d like to see what the bunkhouses look like and how students typically organize and distribute the space, we recommend watching a student-led bunkhouse room tour. It’s a simple way to get a realistic feel for the layout, storage, and daily life before you arrive!
Room assignments can vary by availability and season. Some units may have fewer roommates, while others may be more fully occupied. Regardless of the room type, we work to place students in a way that supports a respectful living environment and a strong community experience.
the value of ourhome
At MSU, our bunkhouses are more than just a place to sleep. They are part of the shared life and family culture that shapes the student experience. These spaces are meant to be places of rest, fellowship, responsibility, and spiritual growth, where students learn to live with honor, cleanliness, and consideration for one another. MSU’s community life is intentionally designed to help students grow not only in the classroom, but also in the everyday rhythms of living together.
where will you live
MSU campus housing is primarily provided through our on-site bunkhouses, located within walking distance of the MSU classroom. These units provide a simple, practical living environment designed for student life and community.
The bunkhouses are available to accepted MSU students only. There are two separate bunkhouse buildings—one for men and one for women. Student parking is well-lit and conveniently located near the buildings.
A $250 deposit is required per person and is payable in full with the first month’s rent, due before or at check-in. For current bunkhouse pricing, availability, or housing questions, please contact Deborah Gill at DGill@MStarM.org
Bunkhouse Unit Options and Furnishings
features
Single- and two-person units include one bedroom with single bunk beds, a small four-drawer dresser, a small closet, and one bathroom. Four-person units include two bedrooms and two bathrooms; each bedroom is furnished with a single bunk bed, two small four-drawer dressers, and a small shared closet.
Every unit includes a kitchen equipped with a stove/oven, refrigerator, small double sinks, and cabinets (microwaves are not included). Units also include a living room/dining area with a table and chairs. Students may bring additional furniture, such as a couch, for their own use.
expectations
Both bunkhouse buildings include a communal laundry room with a free washer and dryer available for student use. If the bunkhouses reach maximum capacity, students may be offered housing in MorningStar’s Heritage Hotel. Rates vary based on room type and whether the student chooses to have a roommate. Students are responsible for providing their own bed linens, towels, shower curtains, dishes, and cooking utensils.
culture
Living in the bunkhouses gives students the opportunity to build meaningful friendships, practice servant-hearted community, and grow in personal responsibility. Students are expected to steward these spaces well, keeping them clean, honoring shared guidelines, and contributing to an atmosphere that reflects the values of MSU. The goal is not simply housing, but healthy community life marked by love, respect, honor, service, and Christ-centered living.
community standards
Because MSU believes formation happens in every part of student life, bunkhouse living comes with clear expectations and responsibility that protect purity, safety, and unity. Students are expected to honor housing boundaries, practice wisdom in relationships, maintain cleanliness, and uphold the standards that help preserve a healthy and supportive environment for everyone. These expectations are listed in detail in our Student Handbook.
the cabin
The Cabin is the student spot at MSU. It is a space reserved exclusively for MSU students—a place to relax, hang out, play games, eat, pray, laugh, celebrate, and make memories together. It is one of the most fun and meaningful places on campus, full of joy, community, and the kind of moments that make student life special. Whether it is a casual afternoon with friends, a late-night conversation, a time of prayer, or a celebration, the Cabin is where so much of MSU family life happens. It is easily one of the favorite places in the school.
